All Systems Go

Drake is still on antibiotics; however, since they have been having difficulties with IVs, they have changed from intervenious ampicillin to injections of rocephin. The good news is that the injections are only one time per day. He took a little field trip today for his VCUG test. The verdict is in...all systems are go. He does not have urinary reflux. While this is good news, it does not tells why he continues to get UTIs. Our doctors here are consulting with a nephrologist at Medical City about what precautionary measures should be taken. He did great on his trip!

Kennedy is so much fun to watch! With her face free of tubing and wires, she makes the cutest expressions. When she is awake...she is WIDE awake, and she constantly takes in all of her surroundings. I was able to give her a bottle again today, and did really well by taking 10mL. She had one brady (heart rate drop). She is still in a learning process so we are taking baby steps. She is also used to a prolonged feeding of her 44mL over an hour and a half. Taking 10mL in a short time is an adjustment for her little stomach. She is getting closer to the 5# mark! She weighed in tonight at 4# 15oz and brother is right behind her at 4# 13oz. They are getting so big!

  1. They are so precious :) Drake's first field trip! Go Drake! I bet he had fun checking out some new scenery :) Keep healing and growing little buddy, you can do it! :)

Kennedy is so beautiful! She is such a sweet little girl, that is so cute that she checks out everything around her. I wonder if she is going to be a scientist, so curious about the world :)

The future for these two is so bright! The day they will come home is fast approaching! The world is getting ready for Drake and Kennedy :)

  2. Wonderful to read all the good news.Praying for Drake and Kennedy to continue their steady improvements and that an answer is forthcoming as to why little Drake is so vulnerable to the UTI. I am praying this is determined soon.
Praying you have a wonderful weekend as a family.

  4. Ouch rocephin! My daughter had to have series of those for a severe ear infection. It was over 2 years ago and she still talks about those big shots! What a super star Drake must be to take those like a champ!

Praise God for the good news and good days for both of your sweet peas. We are all witnesses to God and his miraculous work thru these babies-- thank you for sharing.

    Prayers continue :-)

  5. Oh my goodness, almost 5 lbs- they ARE getting so big! Amazing to see how far they've come!! Love Kennedy's sweet face and her little hands on her paci- big girl stuff! Great news for Drake- glad he got to "get out" today and no infections! Pretty soon they'll both be wanting bottles and you'll have your arms full! Can't wait for that day!
