The Move

Early this morning, Special Care told me that Drake would be joining us today. As excited as I was to hear this, I was skeptical. I headed over to confirm this glorious rumor with the NICU and his doctor. To my surprise, confirmation was made...he would be joining us and we would be moving into a twin room; however, we would have to wait for the triplets to move out and the room to be cleaned first. My mom and I patiently waited and spent a typical day going back and forth between Special Care and the NICU. Around 7pm Drake was moved over to Special Care and he was moved into our small room because the larger twin room was not yet ready. Crowded would be an understatement for our small room with two babies and their accoutrements, but we were just happy to all be together. Around 9pm we were ready for the move to our larger twin room. This was like moving from a small hotel room to a luxury suite. We have only been together for a few hours at this point, but I am loving it! The only way to make it better will be having Brian here this weekend to join us.

Kennedy took a bottle this morning with the occupational therapist, part of a bottle with me at 3pm, and another entire bottle with me at 9pm. She is doing so good with her bottles, and I hope Drake does well when he begins. He will be giving drinking out of a bottle a try later this week. Their doctor made a change to their feedings today. Instead of adding fortifier, they will be adding Enfamil AR. This should help with the reflux issues that Kennedy has been having.

It has been a very long day, and I am ready for our first night together in our own room. Twice the bells and twice the alarms but very well worth it. I'm going to try my best to get a little bit of sleep, and I am praying for a smooth first night together.

  1. Good luck mommy! Enjoy yourself and those sweet babies. I bet they are happy little munchkins to both be with you!

  2. Congratulations Drake on ur big move! Keep up the great work babies!

  3. Hooray! So happy that Drake is back with you and you are together. What a great weekend you will have this week!

  4. Can I ask why you delivered early? I know there are so many diff reasons for everyone. I had severe HELLP and preeclampsia with my 25 wkr. It never said on your first post and I had always wondered. Sorry, hope that was ok to ask.

    1. We really don't know other than my water broke (actually, Drake's water broke). I was put on bed rest at 19weeks following an emergency cerclage. Around midnight on the 23rd of June, I got up to use the restroom and my water broke before I made it into the bathroom. We rushed to the hospital and they tried to stop labor and then decided the babies would have a better chance if they delivered.

  5. Oh Annie how wonderful that you are all together! I love reading your blog when I wake up! It always starts my day on a good note! So happy for all the new and exciting experiences you'll have! Hope you get some sleep!

    Love and hugs -

    Sydney and Yvonne

  6. Happy Dance!!! God is Great!!

    Love you all,

  7. First stop of the Drake and Kennedy express into Special Care... next step BACK HOME :)

I am sure as a mom you are so happy to have BOTH your precious angels right by you now, no longer seperated :) I can only imagine how hard that was to have to bounce between two locations, caring for both at the same time.

Drake and Kennedy have come a LONG way from that day they arrived. Every step along the way they have been protected and watched over, and continue to be watched over :)

Drake and Kennedy, keep growing strong, don't give mom any bradys, and get yourselves ready to come home :) You are going to LOVE the outside world :)

Annie, keep hanging in there. I know this has been the most difficult time of your life, but know you aren't alone at the hospital, but surrounded by so many who love and care for your little miracles. You and Brian have a ton of people who can't wait to see Drake and Kennedy keep growing strong and continue to amaze you with their progress :)

    Go Drake! Go Kennedy! :)

  8. Yeah!! So happy you are all together! Post a pic of the twin room! :)

  9. Praise the Lord for wonderful milestones. I hope you also get sleep and take naps as you are going to be an even busier Momma:) It is a wonderful kind of tired though isn't it? Prayers continue for smooth acceleration of progress:) <><

  10. What wonderful news! So happy you have both babies with you again and now you have your own wonderful room. I will pray that both continue with their strides and accomplishments. I also pray this week will pass quickly (and uneventfully) until Brian can join you again this weekend!

  11. I'm so glad to hear you are all together! Then when Brian is there you'll finally be able to have a taste of what life at home will be like. And we'll pray for those babies to hit all their milestones soon so you really can be home - Tyler misses you!!

  12. Yeah Drake!!! So happy you are back together! I know you are loving it, mom! Can't wait for the next big move!!
