Drakes Critical Condition
This update is going to be the toughest I have written yet and probably the toughest you've read thus far.
Drake's condition has definitely worsened throughout the day. The doctors have identified his Gram negative infection as Serratia marcescens. He has had multiple blood, plasma, and platelet transfusions today and is still on multiple heavy antibiotics.
The seriousness of all this shows up from the continuous flow of doctors, nurses, needles, tests, sonograms...and the lists go on and on. It is evident that the bacteria is colonizing in his respiratory system and urinary tract. The respirator is pushing at maximum efficiency and the CO2 levels are not going down nor up. The thing that has the doctors worried most and the scariest part for us, his body is not producing any urine output in spite of the amounts of fluids and medicines they are pumping into him. They have put a catheter in and there is zero evidence of anything since they put it in this morning.
The next 12 hours are so critical for him...they have givin him diuretics and other medicines including something for blood pressure to hopefully help him with production so he can begin to flush his system and reduce the swelling that is taking over his body.
I will post another update first thing in the morning...in the meantime, much prayer is needed!!!

My heart aches for you all. I am reading your updates and praying for God to save your sweet Drake.
ReplyDeleteI just read your blog, as it was posted on a New Braunfels moms board by your sister. I want you to know to not give up hope, and to keep praying. I worked nicu before my kids were born, and if there was ever a place for miracles, that is it. Miracles are performed there and I have witnessed the sickest babies pull through. I am praying for your sweet babies.
ReplyDeleteSo much prayer for your babies. Deep hearted prayer.
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches for y'all at this most difficult moment. Drake and Kennedy are fighters! They will beat this. You and your family have prayers all across Texas right now and I have hit my knees begging for God to wrap his arms around y'all. I have sent my own little angel to watch over drake and Kennedy, I will continue to pray for them and your family. We are thinking of y'all non stop.

I know some of your family from New Braunfels, and over the last 2 weeks I feel as if I have come to know these tiny munchkins. Many prayers for Drake, his difficult infection and the fight that he will be battling (he can do it!!). And Kennedy, she is a tiny blessing, prayers for her are offered as well. God Bless you both, and keep faith that these tiny ones are fighting for a reason. Good luck.
ReplyDeletePraying for divine healing. Reading Psalm 91 and asking God to heal and protect Drake. Thank you for the update.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck and may God provide strength, health, and love to you all. You're in our prayers.
