24

Yesterday at this time, we were incessantly watching a catheter like it was a good movie...I couldn't close my eyes. It was such good news that was long overdue. We were so happy. We now are at 24 hours of regular urine output.

During the 12 hour day shift, Drake had 33 ml of output which was a little more than double the minimum they were looking for. That's my boy, over achieving; I just wish he didn't wait so long and put me and Annie through So much stress and anticipation. We are still at risk that his kidneys shut down again because he is on high levels of pain medication. They are trying to cut it back but he is in such discomfort and pain that he tenses his whole body and it almost stops his heart. I cannot see him in pain...they are having to keep him right on the edge with the pain meds to hopefully keep the kidneys going. Please continue to pray for Drake and him getting restful healing.

Kennedy was moved to the CPAP this afternoon. She is still trying to figure it all out...she forgets to breath and they have to go remind her often. The nurses said we give her some privacy for a day or two so we don't overstimulate her. This is tough, as we like to constantly peer into her isolette to stare and talk to her. Please pray that she finds the strength to adapt to her breathing.

Picture: the split second that you could get a good view of Kennedy's face.

  1. So excited and happy for both of your little fighters!! I am hooked on your blog, and have several others hooked as well! Your family is in my prayers! My 7 year old son and I pray for Drake and Kennedy every night! I just put him to sleep (it's summer, so I'm a little relaxed on his bedtime...) and we prayed for more pee!! He loves it. :) You are all so strong. Can't wait to hear more!

  3. Yay! I hope they can make Drake comfortable as he heals. Bless that baby's heart.

Is there anything you guys need? Are you eating? Do the babies need anything? Perhaps you can address that in a future post.

I will pray that the babies continue to make progress and that you and Annie are able to relax just a tad.

  4. I anxiously await these updates every night. Yeah for Drake and Kennedy.
Brian, through the, what I can assume, hardest times of your life I wanted to let you know how inspiring you are to me. Through your strength, courage, and uplifted spirit mixed with a touch of humor have made me want to be a better mommy.

Robby and I have 2 boys, one is 4 and the other is 6 months. I could never imagine what you and Annie are going through. I understand the wanting and needing of having children of your own. I am so happy your dreams came true and we will continue to pray for those sweet babies to go home with you someday.

    With much love and prayers

  7. Go Drake! Pee like a race horse little buddy! Get all that extra fluid out of you, so your heart isn't so overworked, and your mom and dad can relax as you get back to normal levels :)

God is showing that as long as we keep praying and trusting in him, he has it all under control. He is truly the great physician :)

Annie and Brian, you two are doing so great! I'm so glad to know you two, as you are such inspiration for me as a future parent, and I hope to be a tenth of good as a parent as you!

Kennedy, keep figuring out your CPAP and just breathe in that fresh air :) You can do it little girl!

Go Drake! Go Kennedy! Seeing such great news is so lifting for the spirits, especially after such a long and stressful week! :)

  9. I thought about Drake's miracle all day long! What joy our Lord must have seeing His believers unite in prayer, faith, and love for Drake and Kennedy. I believe that the strength that you and Annie exhibit is also miraculous. Thank you for your sincere and detailed updates. I believe that prayers should be specific if possible. 10. Hi little Drake and Kennedy! Do you know that you are probably the most famous and loved babies on earth? People all over this great big world anxiously await to read about you everyday and look at your sweet pictures. Then we all have the privilege of calling your names out in prayer to our Heavenly Father asking Him to help you get well and learn how to do all these new things. We are praising God for the many miracles that we have seen in the three weeks that you have been here. Drake, I am so excited that you are getting rid of all that t-t, and I bet you are, too. I hope that you will soon start going up a storm, and maybe that will help you feel better because none of us want you to hurt. I'm glad that Mommy's and Daddy's voices help soothe you when you feel bad. Mommys and Daddys are good things, and you and sissy have the best. I am so proud of you, little guy! You have been an example for us all! Miss Kennedy, we are so proud that you have started on the CPAP. As much as you like your Mommy and Daddy near by, you are going to have to give them strict orders not to distract you from learning your new trick. Breathing on your on is a very important thing, and I know you can do it. This should be a cinch for you considering everything else God has already helped you conquer!! As soon as you get really good at this, I bet they let you start having those dates with your mommy again, and you know how much you love that!! Drake and Kennedy, I hope you have sweet dreams tonight and a very restful sleep. Please tell your mommy and daddy the same for me. I'm throwing you kisses!

  11. Gods work has only just begun, I anticipate many more small, yet hugely significant, triumphs!

Our prayers only intensify with each day--just as their will to live does! Can't wait for more good news tomorrow.

    Staying steadfast in prayer...

  13. My prayers are with you and your family. I recently brought my 24 weeker home from the hospital. He was in for over 7 months. It is a long road and a bumpy road but God is in control and always shows up in His time!!! Continue to rely on your faith and trust that God's plan is perfect!! Your story is much like ours except we were praying for poop instead of pee! Isn't it funny how these babies can completely change your way of thinking??!! Please know that our family will be praying for you!! Continue to rejoice in the small milestones because they eventually turn to major milestones! Romans 12:12- be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and continuous in prayer.
This verse got me through many long days. Blessings to your twins and your family.

  14. What a long and emotional 7 days it has been! Drake, we know you are still battling, but you've got the ball now! Run Drake Run! The smallest running backs are the fastest.... They have to be! Kennedy, you are such a brave girl learning to breath on your own with those tiny lungs! We are so proud of you both! Mom and Dad, we are glad to hear you are working sleep back into your schedule! You're gonna need it to keep up with these two!!

  16. Drake and Kennedy we are so proud of both of you for reaching milestones. Everytime I share your story and people say - what a miracle - I smile! You two are God's sweetest, little miracles that have brought so many people together. You inspire and give people hope just like your wonderful parents do each day. We love you and continue to pray for you.

  17. We have over 100 people praying for your babies. God is faithful and we know where two or more are gathered together on this earth whatever we ask for will be done by our Father in heaven. We are praying for the entire family and complete restoration of your precious babies.

Our daily prayer: Give these precious little Babies your spiritual blessings: grace, strength, protection, health, victory and peace during this difficult time and heal these little infants bodies as they struggle. We further ask that you bestow your gracious hand upon Baby Drake and Kennedy. Heavenly Father, we also ask you send your army of Angels to defend and protect these babies in their time of need. Bring peace and strength to the parents and their families. In your name we pray.”

Please also pray for Baby Drake and Kennedy’s family. “Heavenly Father, please bless and protect Baby Drake and Kennedy's family during this trying time. Help them remain strong and faithful in you as they remain constant and loyal to their precious little babies. Increase their faith and hope. In your name we pray.”

Matthew 18:19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

  18. So happy and relieved to hear all the good news. We continue praying for improvements and milestones. Way to go babies! Annie, I am praying for you for the first moment you get to hold your babies in their own room, safe and sound without tubes, medications, and nurses. It will come soon. You and Brian are so strong. God is holding you right now so that you will soon get to hold your little angels.
